Legislation that would have allowed state use of contingency fee contracts in the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster litigation died Monday evening as the Louisiana Legislature ended its session without taking final action on the measure.
A disagreement between the state Senate and the Louisiana House came down to last minute negotiations. The Senate signed off on a compromise agreement but the House ran out of time as the 6 p.m. mandatory deadline arrived.
