Attorney Generals from Ohio and West Virginia pledge to ATRA transparency code

In a rare move, candidates for Attorney General in two states joined forces to call for greater transparency, fairness and accountability in the way their respective states hire outside counsel and deal with other special interests. Dan Greear of West Virginia and Mike Crites of Ohio, both Republicans, today pledged to adopt the American Tort Reform Association’s “Attorney General Transparency Code” when elected in November.

“I am pleased to reaffirm my commitment to the transparency code along side my friend Mike Crites, candidate for Attorney General in the state of Ohio,” Greear said. “Conducting business in a fair and open manner is good basic government in its simplest form. We need to return the Attorney General’s office to its intended function and end the practice of abusing the office for political gain.”
