A federal grand jury met in Montgomery last week and according to sources close to the investigation heard testimony from a number of witnesses in what appears to be an investigation of Alabama Attorney General Troy King. King, questioned Monday, denies any knowledge of the investigation.
The Montgomery Independent has learned from multiple sources that the grand jury met from Monday through Thursday last week at the Federal Courthouse in Montgomery. Highly placed sources say the investigation was being conducted by Alice Martin, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama and two assistant U.S. Attorneys from the Birmingham office, Matt Hart and Tamarra Matthews Johnson.
