I try not to let the vagaries of government upset me. But sometimes when they are compounded in a single day, I feel like throwing up my hands and screaming at the top of my lungs "It is the right of the people to alter or abolish it," a prescription for change that Tom Jefferson included in the Declaration of Independence.
I suspect many of us take the machinations of government seriously because it's our government and we pay for it. And when things go awry, it becomes a personal affront.
